Kidneys are treasure. I am still quite lucky, because I had only few troubles with kidneys, as a small child and during the first pregnancy, when the baby pressed one kidney and kidney got enlarged most probably due to the blocked outflow. It could be partly dangerous because it can lead to kidney failure. I was lucky it corrected itself after the baby was born. But all these things make me worry about kidney and I am trying to do my best to avoid unnecessary risks.
Kidneys disease, known as nephropathy, is either inflammatory kidney disease nephritis, or non inflammatory kidney disease nephrosis.
There are many different causes of kidney disease and I will just pick few of them.

There are many different causes of kidney disease and I will just pick few of them.
- Chronic conditions that can produce nephropathy include are lupus, diabetes, high blood pressure. Analgesic nephropathy is caused by long term usage of pain medication known as analgesic, such as aspirin and nonsteroidal anti inflammatory drugs.
- Diabetes nephropathy is caused by angiopathy (disease of blood vessels) of the capillaries in the glomeruli.
- Higher consumption of animal proteins. But I cannot imagine how you would need to eat to lower the function. If you eat at least normally healthy, it should be ok.
- Xanthine oxidase deficiency, Toxicity of chemotherapy agents, Polycystic disease of the kidneys, etc.
- And of course our popular lupus, which remains the major cause of mortality in people with lupus nephritis.
Top food for healthy kidneys, all what I like:
- Red bell pepper has vitamin C and A. B6, folic acid, and fiber.
- Cabbage is full of phytochemicals which help to break up free radicals.
- Cauliflower is full of indoles, glucosinolates and thiocyanates which help the liver neutralize toxic substances that could damage cell membranes and DNA.
- Apples reduce cholesterol and are anti-inflammatory.
- Cranberries work against the bladder infection.
- Blueberries are high in antioxidant phytonutrients called anthocyanidins which give them their blue color they help to reduce inflammation.
- Raspberries contain ellagic acid which help to neutralize free radicals.
- Strawberries are rich on two types phenols: anthocyanins and ellagitannins. They are antioxidants and help to protect bode cell structures and prevent oxidative damages.
- Cherries help to reduce inflammation.
- Red grapes they help to reduce formation of blood clots.
- Fish contain anti-inflammatory fats omega-3.
- Olive oil is again a great source of anti-inflammatory fatty acids. It protects against oxidation.
