Stroke is always unexpected and unwanted experience. The very important remark is that stroke is not a geriatric disease. It is not limited to elderly overweight smokers who have high blood pressure or high cholesterol. Here I am trying to compose what I have read.
The stroke can affect anyone at any age. There are common risks, well known, but there are other risk factors for stroke that are really important for women under the age of 55:
While reading risks of stroke I decided to make a mint tea instead of another cup of coffee :-D. Not that it would be related, but one should start to think about the healthier lifestyle :-D. |
- Migraines - women suffering for migraines with aura have higher risk of stroke, it is also very easy to confuse migraine and stroke, since both have similar symptoms.
- Birth control pills, even low estrogen birth control pills are also increasing the risk of stroke.
- Hypertension - women with chronic, secondary or pregnancy related hypertension have increased risk of stroke
- History of Preeclampsia or Eclampsia (It is a disorder of pregnancy characterized by the onset of high blood pressure and presence of protein in the urine)
- Hormone replacement therapy increases a bit the risk of stroke
- Autoimunne diseases such as diabetes or lupus increase the risk of stroke
- Women who experienced more than one miscarriage may have higher risk for blood clots, which increase the risk of stroke. Also women who experienced thrombosis or livedo reticularis (pale skin with a lot of red lines on the skin)
All the factors mentioned above are cumulative.
It seems that I am quite fine, how about you? Have a nice day (it is cloudy and rainy here, how beautiful :-) )
