Types of lupus:

SLE - System lupus erythematosus

When people talk about lupus, they usually meaning SLE.

Discoid lupus DLE  is the disease limited to the skin. It is characterized by the rash on face, neck, scalp. And usually it doesn't affect the internal organs.

SLE is more severe than DLE because it can affect any part of the body, including the organs. But as it changes from person to person, some people get only inflammation or problems only with skins and joins, while other people can suffer for all kind of troubles with lungs, blood, heart etc.

Drug induced lupus is lupus caused by a reaction to a certain prescribed medication and causes similar symptoms to SLE. The medication causing such reactions are hypertension medication called hydralazine and a heart arrhythmia medication called procainamide, but there are other 400 drugs known for causing such reactions. Typically symptoms of lupus goes completely away after stopping of such medication.

Neonatal lupus is a rare condition occurs when mother passes her autoantibodies to fetus. The unborn and newborn baby can have skin rashes and complications. Typically rashes often goes away within first six months of baby's life.

I had luckily only the experience of testing my own baby on this and result was that she is healthy and I didn't pass it on her. At least the neonatal lupus. As it is said, lupus is genetic and the gen can be triggered, so they are not free of risk.

Have a nice day!!
