Sleeping pills

I have been already writing about my sleeping problems. The problems with autoimmune diseases that you cannot take ordinary medication, such as Melatonin. Melatonin is a hormone which is secreted by the pineal gland in the brain. Melatonin is stimulated by the dark. Unfortunately as a medication it should be avoided by people with lupus or other autoimunne diseases because it stimulates imunne system. So, there is a problem. Those diseases cause in general sleeping disorders, as a results from the pain, or medication, or other for example mental issues dealing with pain etc.

It is really important to find a good doctor who has a patience to look with you for a good medication. I found after several experiments quite ok. The important thing that they help you to sleep, but not over power the sleep that you are able to work the next day. I am not going to write any names of medication, because it doesn't make sense. Everybody reacts differently. But I have to say that it is from the family of antidepressant medications. One type is helping me to fall asleep and the second type helps me to keep the sleep over the night. Nevertheless it is not sleeping pill, I am not sleeping through the nigh anyway. One of the medical reasons could be thyroid, I have an inflammation of thyroid, another is Prednisone which typically causes insomnia. There are many reasons why I am suffering for nightmares, but I am not that far to tell. If ever.

You can help yourself. That's called Sleep Hygiene.
  • Limit daytime nap time; up to 30 minutes can help increase mood and performance, but not any longer, that disturb the nighttime sleep.
  • Avoid any stimulants, such as caffeine, nicotine. The best to avoid it completely, but at least in the second half of the day.
  • Every day exercise, or walk on the fresh air helps to increase the quality of the sleep.
  • Regular routine of bedtime
  • Always refresh air in the bedroom before you go to sleep. The temperature suppose to be between 16 to 20 degrees.
  • 30 minutes before going to sleep do not watch TV or ipads.
Well, those are my points. Let me know if you have some tricks. I have tried calming teas as well, but I didn't feel any difference except that it was tasty :-).
